  • Zhuqi Township is located in northeastern Chiayi County by the mountains. Named after the bamboo forests in the hills, the township was named Zhuqito, which means the head of a bamboo mountain. In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the township was a part of Zhuluo County, Taiwan Province, and during the Japanese Colonization period, it was a part of Chiayi Canton, Tainan County. After the National Government recovered Taiwan from Japan, the township became a part of Chiayi County and was renamed Zhuqi.
